Dr. Rule is a clinical psychologist providing assessment and psychotherapy services individuals, couples and families across the developmental lifespan. Diagnostic and treatment areas include: mood disorders, anxiety, depression; ADHD; family issues and situationally and developmentally related coping or adjustment difficulties, among others.
Dr. Rule believes it is important to identify existing strengths in individuals and families. Recognizing such points of resiliency will often provide the framework for expanding on the strengths and adopting healthy, adaptive coping, skills and and strategies. His therapeutic approach draws upon cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and family-systems modalities.
Dr. Rule joined Psychiatric & Psychological Associates of Durham in 2001.
Prior to joining PPAD, he provided assessment and psychotherapy services in a variety of inpatient and outpatient mental health settings including: state psychiatric hospital, community mental health center, group homes, residential centers, schools and nursing homes. Dr. Rule earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Communication Studies from Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL. He earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology / Argosy University, specializing in child, adolescent, and family psychological assessment and psychotherapy. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at the St. Cloud Hospital Behavioral Health Clinic, St. Cloud, MN.
